The brave veterans of the Caribbean funk are back in Paris for a certified dance concert!
Having become a true legend of Caribbean music over the years, the formation is finally back. With saxophonist Camille “Soprann” Hildevert, guitarist Max Iréné Jacquet, singers Max Severin, Fred Aucagos and Hippomène Leauva, as well as a complete band.
Biguine soul, funk, fusion latino, we hear in “Creole Jazz” as much the influence of the brass bands of New Orleans as that of the Kompa Haitien, the Cuban salsa, the Trinidadian calypso or the merengue of Dominique. By integrating these imports with their own Caribbean heritage (Biguine and drum Ka or Bele), the Vikings invent the modern Creole. We are in 1960 and this enchanting parenthesis closes at the beginning of the Zouk, in the 80s.
In 2016, the parenthesis was reopened with the group’s re-formation and a European tour, the production of a documentary on La Perfecta and the Vikings, both pioneer groups of the Creole Jazz and a compilation of the greatest successes of Vikings. In 2017, the story goes on and on March 31 through this concert event in Paris.
After the concert of the Vikings, the atmosphere will continue with the DJ Emile Omar, the man behind the Tropical Discoteq who will play the sounds and rhythms of the Caribbean for the delight of the dancers.
We are impatiently waiting for you!
Opening: Roger Raspail
